Songs for Syria

The Campaign:Songs for Syria is a fundraising event in support of the Syrian Refugee Crisis. We have researched and connected with six different charities that support victims of this crisis and will be campaigning for all of them through this fundraiser. We hope that by including diverse options for people to aid this crisis that we can cover as much area as possible. We have included information as well as links for all of the charities and the fundraising pages below. If you are unable to attend our event, please don't hesitate to donate from afar. Anything helps. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Crisis: "Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. Half the country’s pre-war population — more than 11 million people — have been killed or forced to flee their homes.Families are struggling to survive inside Syria, or make a new home in neighboring countries. Others are risking their lives on the way to Europe, hoping to find acceptance and opportunity. And the onset of harsh winter weather makes life as a refugee even more difficult. At times, the effects of the conflict can seem overwhelming. But one fact is simple: millions of Syrians need our help. According to the U.N., it will take $7.7 billion to meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable Syrians in 2016.You can help. The more you know about the crisis, the more we can do together to help those in need. The lifesaving work that we do, helping people survive conflict and build brighter futures, is only possible with your knowledge and support." -MercyCorpsThe Event:An evening of music and dance to honor and support those in need. We have gathered a group of world class musicians and dancers to represent the soul of this event. The evening will be filled with beautiful sounds and dance of the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. There will also be delicious gourmet cuisine and refreshing beverages. The night will be a magical gathering to inspire unity and support for those in need.About the venue: The 1909 is a beautiful venue in serene Topanga Canyon where we will be hosting this event. The 1909 is conveniently located right off Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

We Refuse to be Enemies

Join Bassem Rashidi and the Primal Rhythm Experience for an experience of a lifetime with Rhythm and Remembrance. Two years ago the Southern California Muslim-Jewish Forum was convened out of the work of the The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding-FFEU. They created an annual “Twinning” program to bring Muslims and Jews together in order to build relationship, understanding and harmony. Many synagogues, mosques and Muslim-Jewish organizations in So Calif. have participated over the years and we formed our Forum. This year our Twinning event will feature the offering of Two Faiths One Prayer. Most likely you have seen their video that went viral. The program will give everyone a chance to participate in this profound experience. We will open the program with a “Speed-Dating” exercise where everyone finds a partner to share their feelings on a given prompt; there will be three prompts given throughout the program. Musical offerings by Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniels, Ahmed Pierstroff, Bassem Rashidi and Moose Simjee will reflect the sacred attunement of the shared prayer. Introduction to “Two Faiths One Prayer”:
